Government Funding
Amac are working in partnership with Canterbury College so able to offer some of our courses to you either free or greatly reduced – even if you have a degree already.
Grants and subsidies may be subject to change at any time as directed by the government or funding bodies. It should not be assumed that grants or subsidies will be available. To check current status or eligibility please contact Amac on 01227 831 840. All courses are offered subject to demand and student numbers and may be withdrawn if minimum numbers are not reached. Amac does not accept any liability for errors or omission. The information below outlines the funding criteria for people enrolling on courses up to 31 August 2013.
We are now taking booking for funded courses and we will forward an enrolment form to you in the post following your booking. Your circumstances at the time of booking will apply when completing this enrolment.
Fully Funded Eligibility Criteria
16-18
If you were aged 16-18 on 31 August 2012.
Unemployed
You are unemployed and in receipt of Jobseekers’ Allowance, in receipt of Employment and Support Allowance (Work-related Activity Group) or in receipt of a state benefit. You will be required to complete a self-declaration on the enrolment form, ticking the box/es that apply to your current circumstances. Amac may require any other documentary evidence relating to benefits etc.
Level 2 entitlement
Our Level 2 Gym Instructor, Exercise to Music Instructor and Children’s Fitness Instructor courses make a contribution to National Priority Education Targets are also potentially free to students who have not yet gained a qualification at that Level – If you are aged 19-23 and do not already hold a full Level 2 qualification or higher * you may not have to pay course fees. Guidance is available from Amac.
*This means you don’t already have any of the following qualifications:
• 5 GCSEs grade A – C
• 5 O levels
• 2 AS levels/ 1 A level
• 5 CSEs grade 1
• NVQ level 2
• EDEXCEL or BTEC First Diploma
• OCR/RSA Diploma
• GNVQ Intermediate
• City & Guilds Part 2 qualification
Level 3 entitlement
19-24 year olds studying a full Level 3 Personal Trainer course for the first time may be able to study for free if they don’t already hold an existing full Level 3 qualification or higher*.
*This means if you don’t already have any of the following qualifications (to the level indicated) you can apply for a free level 3 course:
• NVQs at Level 3
• 2 or more A-levels, including vocational A-levels
• one or more A-level double awards
• Access to HE certificate (regulated by QAA)
• OCR National Diplomas and Extended National Diplomas
• Edexcel National Certificates and National Diplomas
• BTEC National Certificates and National Diplomas
• Ordinary National Certificates or Diplomas (ONC/OND)
• International Baccalaureate.
• or higher level qualifications such as HNC/HND or degrees
Additional Costs
If you are 19+ years then a refundable deposit of £150 (level 2) or £250 (level 3) is required to book your place on a course. This will be refunded on completion of the training course and assessments as required. All theory exam re-sits are free of charge however a re-sit for a practical assessment is charged at £140 (inc VAT).
For level 2 Fitness Instructor courses, there is an optional manual to accompany the online learning and can be purchased for £20 (inc. delivery).
For level 3 Personal Trainer and GP Exercise Referral courses, there are an optional manuals to accompany the online learning and can be purchased for £15 (inc. delivery) each for A&P and Nutrition.
Part Funding Eligibility Criteria
If you were 19 or older on 31 August 2012 and you have been an EU resident for at least the last 3 years and reside in England then you will be eligible for the reduced course fees below:
Personal Trainer (Level 3 CYQ) was £1250 now £482
Children’s Fitness Instructor (Level 2 CYQ) was £550 now £220
Gym Instructor (Level 2 CYQ) was £720 now £345
Exercise to Music Instructor (Level 2 CYQ) was £790 now £355
GP Exercise Referral Instructor (Level 3 Diploma CYQ) was £750 now £300
